Soap Box Records

From our Soap Box, we'd like to tell you...

“From the demise of ‘A New Hope Records’ was born the label that does everything right. Starting off proceedings with the massive re-launch of ANHR’s catalogue.. this label got DJs, producers and electronic music lovers excited from long before even day one. This is where we would usually day ‘this label has come from nowhere to dominate the scene’.. as it feels like they did. But looking back, it’s clear that this label has been working very hard for a very long time.....” December 2010.

Soap Box Records launched it’s first release on 13th December 2010. Unlike most labels that build a following after having launched releases - Soap Box identified that launching music to an audience of zero is pointless and as a result spent months building industry relationships and a huge following of thousands fans through current social networking mediums such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace and Soundcloud - before releasing a single beat. Not only could Soap Box reach thousands of music loving people via the internet but they also collaborated, pre-launch, with existing successful nightlife brands - such as “Fidget Fridays”, “Rock and Rolla”, “BlockBeatz” and Will Bailey’s “Simma”. This enabled Soap Box to reach people not via clever marketing or big advertising budgets, but through good music and trust from established brands.

As well as wanting to reach people with music, Soap Box intends to change the entire electronic music scene by pushing it’s boundaries of acceptance. Rather than offering big name artists work for the sake of making record sales - Soap Box reviews all producers of music on a level playing field. Meaning that artists are signed based on merit - not reputation. This brave strategy allows Soap Box to actively promote and develop brand new talent that may not have been given the opportunity to flourish in the past. In the way that A New Hope Records discovered and supported acts like 2 Bit Thugs, B. Rich, Jackinori, MightyFools and Douster [currently 5 of the most sought after acts in electronic music] : Soap Box hopes to find names that will exceed all of their preceding colleagues. Alt the launch Soap Box had E.P releases lined up from unsigned talent such as Jack Bluff, Hot Mess and Right-Off. Much time, money and resources will be devoted to ensuring that Soap Box is always the first to discover new, unsigned and innovative talent from across the world.
